JOB TITLE: Outreach and Farmers Market Coordinator DEPT: O & P

REPORTS TO: Director of Operations FLSA: Non-Exempt


RESPONSIBILITIES

Outreach

The Outreach Coordinator develops and maintains community partnerships, plans, and coordinates events, and is responsible for successful marketing and communications about the agency resulting in increased community engagement to the agency’s programs.

  • Developing and sustaining positive relationships with a range of people, including residents, community leaders, local groups and organizations, and local authorities;
  • Extensive interaction working in community outreach and engagement, particularly with disadvantaged groups;
  • Ensures the ALLIANCE participates in key community events and represents the ALLIANCE at those events.
  • Maintain data of all events, activities, and contacts
  • Perform other duties to promote the success of the agency’s programs, as assigned.

Farmers Market

Key responsibilities include oversight of operations, marketing and communications, customer service, vendor and external relations management, and reporting of the Farmers Market Project.

  • Manage vendor relationships, including recruitment, problem-solving, conflict resolution, quality control, and ensuring compliance with Alliance’s Community Farmers Market policies.
  • Work closely with the agency’s consultant to promote and represent farmers’ markets in local media.
  • Develop and manage relationships with farmers and participating partners.
  • Obtain all licenses and permits
  • Coordinating market signs and displays
  • Ensure the health and safety of vendors and customers.
  • Ensure that all CDC guidelines are followed
  • Follow project guidelines with all other responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

The position requires the following skills and experience:

  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, highly organized, and reliable
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines
  • Comfortable working alone and in teams
  • Farmers market and/or food retail/marketing experience desirable
  • Volunteer management experience is desirable
  • Comfortable with online collaboration tools, e.g., shared calendars, email, shared folders/files (Dropbox, Google Drive, Google Apps), and utilizing web-based database and project management software
  • Excellent people and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Previous experience working with people with diverse racial, ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Spanish language ability a plus
  • Interest and commitment to social justice/food justice/environmental justice
  • Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Services/Marketing or related field plus relevant experience in Program Management. OR Associate degree in a related field plus relevant experience in Program Management. OR a High School graduate with relevant experience in Program Management.
