Job DescriptionJob DescriptionJob Title: Divisional Controller
Purpose of Position: As a pivotal member of management, the Divisional Controller oversees the financial performance of the division and provides essential financial analysis and guidance to the General Manager.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
  1. Analyze financial reports, forecast cash flow, and develop innovative financial strategies to achieve revenue goals.
  2. Evaluate financial performance and prepare comprehensive profit and loss statements.
  3. Recommend various financial options to support business objectives.
  4. Identify financial risks and devise effective action plans.
  5. Negotiate financial terms with customers as needed.
  6. Manage log procurement accounting and conduct cost and supply adequacy analyses.
  7. Assist the sales team by evaluating profitability across different cutting programs.
  8. Support budget preparation and oversee expense management activities.
  9. Collaborate with management on financial analysis and operational planning.
  10. Prepare and deliver timely and accurate financial reports to management.
  11. Maintain and enhance accounting controls, suggesting improvements to current procedures.
  12. Coordinate with auditors during financial audits.
  13. Provide guidance to financial staff when necessary.
  14. Conduct month-end reconciliations and oversee account closing processes.
  15. Participate in team meetings to discuss financial results and address issues.
Other Responsibilities:
  1. Perform additional duties as assigned or required.
  2. May require travel to other divisions within the United States.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Required:
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, team-building, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to exercise discretion, judgment, and build strong relationships.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to thrive in dynamic business environments.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Experience, Training, Certification, and Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in a major company or division of a large corporation.
  • Preference given to candidates with a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
  • Office environment.
