First Choice Health Centers is looking for a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner for our outpatient clinic in Manchester, CT. This position is accountable for independently performing a full range of tasks in delivery of direct care for our pediatric patients.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Considerable knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
  • Knowledge of different disciplines and disease states; knowledge of medication and their interactions and reactions.
  • Physical assessment skills; counseling skills; considerable interpersonal skills; oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to formulate plans of care.
  • Decision making ability.

Experience and Training:

  • Registered Nurse, and completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
  • Experience practicing pediatric medicine
  • Connecticut Controlled Substance license and DEA license
  • BLS Certification

Standard Job Duties:

  • Evaluates, assesses patient illness/injuries.
  • Performs physical examinations, and special examinations.
  • Takes medical histories.
  • Develops plans of care.
  • Provides routine and illness care.
  • Orders medications; orders diagnostic tests; and evaluates results.
  • Assumes responsibility for patient follow-up, coordination, and referrals to other health care providers as necessary.
  • Maintains patient medical records.
  • Provides patient counseling/education.
  • Participates in medical student and health professional teaching.
  • Performs related duties as required.
