Job DescriptionJob DescriptionEssential Duties and Responsibilities:- Opens and closes the dining room, which involves unlocking/locking the door, taking care of operation of lights and equipment, and assuring that the dining room is ready for service.
- Greets and seat residents as they enter; ensures the table is clean and rolled silverware, napkins, and other needs have been provided.
- Take reservations over the phone or in-person; prepares reserved table in timely manner.
- Take food and beverage orders over the phone or in-person using POS system.
- Maintain knowledge of all current menu items, specials
- Serve food safely, neatly, and attractively from service kitchen to residents, in an organized and timely manner. This includes staff, guests, and take-out orders.
- Maintains a clean, tidy, well-stocked dining room and server alley. Clears tables of dishes and utensils after meals and dispenses to dish room. Uses proper sanitation practices in cleaning tables, replenishing condiments.
- Ensures all beverage items are well stocked and other items as needed. Notifies Director of Dining on stock items that need to be ordered.
- Maintains proper rotation and labeling of all food and non-food items.
- Properly disposes of refuse and boxes in proper places and taking all refuse to garbage area when directed as needed.
- Notifies Director of Dining of any sanitation, safety, or resident concerns in a timely manner.
- Assists cooks with portioning of items when there is a slow period, according to the proper portion size.
- Follows tasks assigned by Director of Dining which may not be posted on job schedule, or in event of emergency.
- Properly uses and cleans equipment used when done.
- Promotes Warm Beach Senior Community (WBSC) by maintaining a neat, clean professional appearance as defined in the WBSC employees’ handbook and dietary dress code policy.
- Performs duties in a safe manner and follows safety rules including reporting any work-related injury at the time of injury to the supervisor.
- Attends scheduled meetings and required Warm Beach Senior Community In-service and training programs.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Director of Dining.
- Able to work all scheduled shifts and abide by legal break periods as directed by managers on duty.
- Speech, sight and hearing to effectively communicate, read and create documents.
- Speech, sight and hearing to communicate effectively by varied means including but not limited to telephone, in person, while meeting or greeting clients and conversing with residents or speaking publicly.
- Ability to move freely and quickly to set up dining room, stock food storage areas and deliver food carts to nursing.
- Ability to use a step ladder to reach for items used in the kitchen and/or Dining room.
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Must be able to lift, balance, and carry trays of food weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to lift heavy objects up to 50lbs.
- Ability to withstand temperature changes which may occur.
- Work indoors most of the time but may sometimes work in outdoor serving areas.
- Must have and maintain a valid Food Handler’s card.
- Knowledge of POS system.
- Demonstrates reliability and self-motivation.
- Knowledge of WBSC programs, mission and purpose.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability and maturity to prioritize, use good judgment and tact.
- Assures resident’s safety at all times.
- Willingness to abide by WBSC policy and procedures.
