Job Summary
This position prepares food for guests at the Greenway Tap restaurant and performs kitchen operations activities in accordance with menu standards, clubhouse practices, and state and local food safety requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare all food items in a timely manner according to recipe standards and guest specifications. Ensure food quality and consistency in food preparation while minimizing waste.
- Operate kitchen equipment and use kitchen tools including stoves, ovens, grills, broilers, slicers, and knives.
- Monitor the age and condition of food products and follow First-In, First-Out (FIFO) practices in food preparation.
- Prepare daily requisitions for supplies and food items for production.
- Maintain a safe, clean, sanitary, and organized workstation including equipment, tables, shelves, and floors. Ensure that workstations are adequately stocked with food items and supplies and that equipment is in working order.
- Perform opening and closing procedures including moving food items between coolers and/or freezers, setup and tear-down of equipment, portioning of food items, and cleaning tasks.
- Foster a working environment that promotes safe work habits; Become familiar with and observe all applicable safety rules, policies, and work procedures; Follow all safety rules that pertain to the duties performed and support all aspects of the District's safety and risk management program; Keep work area clean, orderly, and free of hazards; Immediately report all unsafe conditions and incidents.
- Maintain a supportive working environment and demonstrate a desire to exceed the expectations of internal and external customers.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements:
- 18 years of age or older at time of hire.
- 6 months of experience as a cook in a high-volume kitchen environment preferred.
- Must have and maintain CPR, AED, and First Aid certification or obtain upon hire (training provided).
- Must have and maintain Illinois Food Handler Training and Certification or obtain within 30 days of hire.
- Knowledge of restaurant sanitation standards and food safety procedures.
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment including stoves, ovens, and broilers.
- Basic knife skills.
Schedule and Availability: Flexible Schedule; Availability to work should include opening and closing shifts, likely to include weekends and holidays, based on customer traffic and business needs.
Starting Pay: $17.00-$23.00 an hour
