Therapist Assistant

Maryland Addiction Recovery Center, the leader in comprehensive dual diagnosis addiction treatment in the Mid Atlantic area, is looking to hire Therapist Assistants (TA) for their Community Living Treatment program. This position, similar to a behavioral health technician, is an extension of the clinical day staff and works directly with patients in treatment for dual diagnosis and substance abuse issues. The TA supports patients by forming strong relationships, implements clinical directives passed on by the clinical team, and coordinates care by identifying the immediate needs of each patient on an individualized level of care. Position reports directly to Director of Support Services.
Required: High school diploma or equivalent education; excellent verbal and writing communication skills; ability to use basic computer skills and create clinical notation; valid driver's license for minimum of 4 years
Preferred experience includes: prior experience working in dual diagnosis, mental health, substance abuse, and/or healthcare field; prior experience with EMR software; knowledge of addictions, addiction treatment, 12 Step recovery process.
Additional Job Responsibilities:- Focus on programmatic areas with patients, such as personal management and life skills
- Facilitate activities, socialization skills, community involvement, and safety and health
- Monitor all patient progress/lack of progress on a regular basis and document/communicate the information to appropriate staff members
- Transport patients to MARC Clinical facility and/or outside appointments on company vehicles
- Be an advocate for all patients
A person must be at least 21 years old to drive a MARC vehicle, have held a driver's license for a minimum of 4 years, and have an acceptable MVR record per company insurance guidelines.
This position is staffed twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. WEEKEND AVAILABILITY IS NEEDED.
Schedules are consistent week to week, unless an employee picks up overtime in addition to their regularly scheduled days.
Shifts are scheduled as follows:
- Day shift: 8am-4:30pm
- Evening shift: 4pm-12:30am
- Overnights: 12am-8:30am
