About the Staff Data Scientist role:
We are recruiting in partnership with a client in need of a Staff Data Scientist. This position will be pivotal in leading the development of models and algorithms to refine and generate first-party data. The role involves utilizing advanced statistical and machine learning techniques, including large language models (LLMs), to derive insights and determine accurate values from error-prone data sources.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the creation and refinement of algorithms that generate first-party data, applying statistical and machine learning techniques to extract accurate insights from varied sources
- Develop and enhance data products that boost the discoverability of startups in our client's database, including improving algorithms for search relevance, similarity, and tagging.
- Maximize the value extracted from data, aiming to make our client's resources the most valuable and useful source of startup information.
- Manage the maintenance and health of data pipelines, ensuring data is transformed accurately and efficiently.
- Work collaboratively with the team to define product goals, outline milestones, and drive project completion with minimal guidance.
Requirements:
Proficiency in Python and SQL.
- Experience with backend libraries and tools such as dbt and dagster; familiarity with web servers and comfort working with large data sets.
- Ability to work 3 days per week in our Brooklyn office.
- Proven track record of delivering major projects within a data-centric startup environment.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Data Science or Data Engineering, or a comparable educational background such as a PhD.
