  • Create low level design for OSP (Outside Plant) fiber strand and conduit routes.
  • Perform make ready engineering on outside plant structures for the purposes of establishing joint use.
  • Perform structural evaluations on wood utility poles using PLA (pole loading analysis) software.
  • Perform fiber placement design with splice diagrams and trace reports.
  • Coordinate field technicians on data collection and field surveys.
  • Research jurisdictional requirements for design and permitting processes.
  • Perform quality control on all engineering designs, permit drawings, and structural analysis reports.
  • Detailed understanding of survey field notes and sketches to create new or update existing designs using various software platforms.
  • Organize and maintain revisions of project deliverables.
  • Utility and easement coordination.
  • Obtain and map various existing facilities.
  • Generation of bills of materials, splice sheets, and other supporting documentation required for permitting, construction, and record keeping.
  • Perform cost analysis to determine the most cost effective and efficient manner of the placement of communications facilities.
  • Understanding of easements and rights-of-way and ability to read and understand maps, as-built, construction drawings and utility records.
  • Complete assigned work while maintaining an elevated level of quality, accuracy, and efficiency.
Requirements:
  • Self-motivated candidates who have a degree in Engineering Technologies, GIS, CAD, or similar, and/or equivalent work experience with design software.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Advanced AutoCAD experience is recommended.
  • Experience in GIS software (ArcGIS, 3GIS, or similar) is recommended.
  • Experience in PLA (Pole Loading Analysis) software is recommended.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Must be a great communicator, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in scope of work and priority.
