What will I do as a Controller?

  • Oversees daily and weekly payroll job duties.
  • Serves as back-up to Senior Accountant.
  • Responsible for month and year end closing duties. This includes supervising and ensuring close timeliness and accuracy, account reconciliations, accruals, journal entry preparation/posting and variance analysis.
  • Maintain the general ledger chart of accounts ensuring accuracy and relevant tracking of expenses.
  • Implement current GAAP policies and procedures and recommend new policies as necessary.
  • Effectively work with CFO and Chief Operations Officer to provide decision support and help make sound business decisions to optimize performance of the Company.
  • Ensure that cash requirements are being met; perform financial and cash flow analysis for capital projects and investment opportunities.
  • Perform wide variety of general accounting duties such as:
  • Assist with the preparation of the monthly and year-end financial statements.
  • Coordinate the annual audit.
  • Coordinate the annual cost reports.
  • Coordinate the preparation and filing of the annual tax returns.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budgets.
  • Works with Billing to develop realistic bad debt forecasts and to monitor acceptable aging of AR.
  • Supports operations through monitoring of spending and variance to budget reporting, as well as other business initiatives as needed.
  • Perform special projects as assigned by the CFO and COO as needed.

What is required in this position?

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent required
  • 3-5 years of Accounting Experience with public accounting and / or long-term care experience preferred.
  • Strong computer skills.
