VES, LLC seeks a Senior Software Engineer to maintain and improve the performance of existing software solutions. This position can be performed remotely, however priority will be given to those neat Picatinny, NJ as there is a need for occasional travel.


The Senior Software Engineer will:

  • Exercise Software Integration of existing components.
  • Develop, test, and manage software as directed and determined by the project lead.
  • Perform technical prototypes for emerging technologies.
  • Maintain and improve the performance of existing software solutions.
  • Recommend improvements to existing software solutions as necessary.
  • Lead and manage the software development team to design, develop, and maintain software applications for mission objectives.
  • Work closely with the customer and other stakeholders to understand requirements and design software solutions to meet their needs.

Qualifications:

  • BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field from an accredited university.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance.
  • 7+ years of experience in software development, with at least 3 years of experience leading software development teams.
  • Solid problem-solving and debugging ability and experience developing unit tests/usefeul code documentation.
  • Solid CS fundamentals including object orientation, data structures, advanced algorithms, complexity, automata, operating system fundamentals, computer architecture, and systems analysis and design
  • Familiarity with professional software engineering practices for the full software development life cycle, including requirements elicitation, coding standards, code reviews, source control management, agile development, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Ability to write code and documentation that is maintainable for years down the line and that is easily adaptable to changing requirements.
  • Working knowledge of C, C++, and/or Java

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Apache NiFi and Apache Kafka
  • Experience with big data search and databases including Elasticsearch and PostgreSQL
  • Experience creating, managing, and debugging containerization technologies including Kubernetes and Docker
  • Experience using a profiler to debug performance issues
  • Experience with Atlassian (JIRA, Confluence).
  • Understand the entire SDLC
