Job Summary

The Sr. Engineering Manager at DerbySoft plays a pivotal role in leading the transformation and maintenance of DerbySoft's Portal development in close collaboration with the Product Manager. The primary objective of this position is to elevate and optimize this product, ensuring it delivers a superior, user-friendly experience for our key accounts. This initiative is central to DerbySoft's Connectivity platform, reinforcing our technological prowess and organizational efficiency. Additionally, this role will spearhead a dynamic team of engineers tasked with architecting cutting-edge services within DerbySoft's Connectivity platform, tailored to the demands of the online travel industry. To be successful, the Sr. Engineering Manager will encompass both the development and fine-tuning of its technical facets.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Planning:

  • Support VP, PaaS Development to build up Portal Product development tactics plan.
  • Develop team annual/ quarterly working plan and ensure alignment with PaaS department direction, plan and priorities.

Resourcing and Delivery:

  • Identify key resources required to collaborate with product team and relevant stakeholders employing Agile methodologies to ensure timely delivery for product features.
  • Adhering to DerbySoft’s technical, quality, and security standards, guide the engineering team through technical design, code review, unit testing, and automation testing to meet these benchmarks.
  • Lead the engineering team in the development and optimization of core technical components, taking charge of emergency issues and ensuring prompt resolution.
  • Monitor team level key metrics achievement progress.

Review and Evaluation:

  • Oversee the US engineering team, encompassing recruitment, training, and mentorship, fostering efficient collaboration and goal attainment.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations of team members, providing constructive feedback and tailored development plans to drive continuous improvement.
  • Provide necessary team coaching and support to drive results.
  • Reports on self/team performance against plan and progress to department management team.

Technology Trends Monitoring:

  • Stay abreast of technological advancements, ensuring the team remains at the forefront by embracing the latest technologies and best practices.

Cross-team Collaboration:

  • Forge close partnerships with other teams, including product management, customer support, and client managers, to align technology with overarching business objectives.

Other:

  • Participate in training as assigned by the company.

Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in software engineering, computer science, information systems, information technology or similar, or commensurate work experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of Java development experience, within at least 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Fluency in both spoken and written Chinese and English
  • Technical qualification:
  • Spring / Spring Boot / Spring Cloud, Mybatis, Hibernate, JPA, and other open-source frameworks, with the ability to perform secondary development.
  • Agile methodology.
  • Front-end development technologies, including JavaScript, CSS, jQuery, ReactJS, Node.js, and NPM.
  • Code version management tools such as Git or SVN.
  • Unit testing frameworks like Junit / Easy Mock / Spockframework.
  • Code build tools such as Maven or Gradle.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate conflicting objectives and create alignment across functional teams.
  • Experience in the online travel industry preferred.
