Job DescriptionJob Description

Cloud Operations Engineer will be responsible for the planning, design, development, as well as the ongoing management, maintenance and support of the cloud production and related environments. Creates processes designed to measure system effectiveness and identify areas for improvement. This includes the responsibility for monitoring the consumption of cloud resources, request fulfillment turnaround, application performance, and systems security posture. Can oversee the selection of orchestration tooling, as well as compliance audits and reporting. Responsible for identifying, correcting, and enhancing important software tools. Should also work with the DevOps and development team to seek ways to enhance systems operations, with a focus on automation and minimizing cost.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Work in the support organization to setup cloud servers for the customers
  • Help maintain in house servers for support and sales
  • Work with DevOps to enhance the current deployment process
  • Setup monitoring tools for managed servers
  • Monitor the cloud cost and make suggestion to reduce cost
  • Help troubleshoot customer connectivity issues

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline to work as a cloud operations engineer.
  • A strong background in Azure or AWS cloud platform
  • Excellent technical abilities in IT
  • One or more Cloud methodologies skills (PaaS, IaaS, SaaS, etc.)
  • Programming languages knowledge
  • PowerShell scripting skills
  • Strong communication
  • Self-motivated and requires little supervision.
  • Azure/AWS certification is a major plus
  • Membership in an industry organization, such as the Cloud Computing Association (CCA) is a plus.
