The Academy's first school opened in Delano in 2009, serving students from across the Central Valley in grades 6-12. In 2016, we moved to our new, state-of-the-art college prep campus in Delano, and in the Fall of 2017, we added an elementary school in Delano and opened a second charter school in Lost Hills. In Delano, we serve over 1,800 students in grades TK-12, and in Lost Hills, we serve almost 500 students in grades TK-12th.

Job Description

The Instructional Aide will work in partnership with Teachers to hold students to high expectations in the classrooms and other settings such as lunch and recess. The Instructional Aide will demonstrate commitment to our college-going mission by believing in students’ potential and supporting students learning. 

  • Support teacher with directed instruction including 1:1
  • Supervise structured play before, during, and after school
  • Learn from experienced teachers who will explicitly teach you classroom management techniques and differentiation strategies that will help you meet the learning needs of all students.  
  • Support a vision of excellence for all students, with an urgency to maximize every opportunity necessary to achieve ambitious student outcomes
  • Provides Teacher with support including tutoring of students, clerical support, and administrative tasks
  • Demonstrates commitment to the community by communicating regularly with families and attending key community events
  • Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, required
  • Substitute permit, required
  • An Associate or Bachelor’s degree, preferred
  • Instructional aide or relevant experience, preferred
  • Bilingual Spanish speaker, preferred

Working Conditions:

  •  Environment: Classroom environment; fast-paced work, constant interruptions.
  • Physical requirements: Hearing and speaking to exchange information, make presentations, and communicate over the telephone; seeing to read, prepare, and proofread documents and view computer monitors; sitting or standing for extended periods; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment; kneeling, bending at the waist, and reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally, to retrieve and store files and supplies; lifting light objects; ability to go to sites apart from primary office to conduct business.

Compensation:

  • Wonderful College Prep Academy offers highly competitive compensation, commensurate with experience, which includes generous performance bonuses.
  • Full-time staff benefits include medical coverage, dental, vision, and life insurance at no cost to the employee. We also offer an optional 403b, with company match, as a supplement to STRS retirement pension. In addition, employees have free access to the Wonderful Wellness Center and gym.

Pay Range: $17.00 - $20.00/hour; final compensation will be dependent upon skills and certification.
