Tax & Consulting Staff Accountant
Position Summary: Responsible for learning and applying technical accounting skills and working as part of a team to carry out tasks with coaching and supervision. This is a full-time, direct hire opportunity in Kalamazoo, MI.Qualifications
  1. Bachelors or master’s degree in Accounting or related curriculum – 150 credit hours preferred
  2. Aspirations to become a CPA and develop a public accounting career
Technical Abilities/Productivity
  1. Proficient at completing basic individual tax returns
  2. Understands importance of completing tax returns and assigned tasks accurately and with efficiency
  3. Proficient in Fixed Asset Solutions, Advance Flow and ACS
  4. Employee has a sense of urgency or promptness to achieve goals
  5. Be able to complete various entity tax returns (1120S, 1040, 1065)
  6. Has completed a tax research assignment
  7. Identify 1 to 2 areas of interest in industry to specialize in tax
  8. Ability to lead staff and complete assignments with minimal supervision
  9. Understanding of Basic Financial Statements.
  10. Ability to reconcile trial balance to source documents.
  11. Create a depreciation schedule; basic understanding of depreciable lives and methods.
  12. Able to identify required payroll tax return filings, 941, 940, W-2, 1099s and their purpose.
  13. Ability to reconcile payroll liabilities and prepare payroll tax return filings.
  14. Ability to reconcile a simple bank statement.
  15. Basic understanding of QuickBooks (importing, exporting, data entry, report preparation).

  5. Work with Principals and staff across multiple offices

  1. Identifies community organizations of interest
  2. Begin attending community events to represent the firm
  3. Participates in firm sponsored events
Business Development
  1. Create a professional social media profile on LinkedIn
  2. Uses LinkedIn profile and /or preferred social media to actively engage network through company and industry updates
  3. Attend business development training offered through Yeo & Yeo
  4. Be able to intelligently speak about the firm’s mission and services
  5. Strives to generate additional revenue for Yeo & Yeo and its affiliates through business development
  6. Maintain Business Development Activity kit based on level
