POSITION DESCRIPTION
Scholar Career Coaching’s College Success Coach leads and prepares our Scholars for education beyond high school. The Coach-Scholar dynamic is goal-driven, anchored by the Scholar Success List, and achieved through in-person and virtual formats.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Travel to local school sites to serve as a College Success Coach for our Scholars
- Facilitate weekly one-on-one and group meetings with Scholars to guide, support, and assist their individual college and career readiness goals.
- Monitor GPA/academic performance and ACT/CLT/SAT [all standardized test] scores of each Scholar
- Ensure productive Mentoring sessions are occurring on a regular basis for each Scholar.
- Monitor key college access data points needed for reporting
- Coach and advise students on appropriate college and career preparation skills.
- Facilitate mock interview events, college decision days, and other activities for our Scholars.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience working in primary/secondary education, college and career preparation programs, social work, counseling, student affairs, or other related fields.
CORE QUALIFICATIONS
- Must enjoy working with high school students of various educational, economic, and cultural backgrounds and of varying academic capabilities
- Excellent communication skills and judgment—written, verbal, and interpersonal
- Confidence in communication with students, parents, school contacts, and others.
- Must have a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle to attend mentoring sessions and meetings.
- Strong organizational and technical skills (comfortable with Microsoft Office and Google Suite products)
- Ability to stand and/or sit for extended periods
- A good sense of humor
This is a part-time (10-12 hrs weekly) contract opportunity.
Available shifts and compensation: Available shifts on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Compensation is $18.00/hour.
