Job Title: Sr. Payroll Specialist

Location: Oakland, CA - Hybrid

Hours: Monday through Friday

Summary:

  • Oracle Cloud Payroll Software experience required
  • Responsible for payroll processing services and customer service
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements, payroll policies, and collective bargaining
  • agreements
  • Handle Kronos timekeeping, General Ledger Payroll accounts analysis, and other payroll
  • functions

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Transmit Health Equity files: Flexible Spending Accounts and Health Equity Savings
  • Analyze payroll bank accounts and resolve variances
  • Review monthly bank statement for outstanding checks and collaborate with Accounting on
  • escheating
  • Balance payroll on a bi-weekly basis
  • Balance and transmit files to third-party vendors
  • Backup payroll analyst and specialist positions
  • Perform duties mentioned in the Payroll Specialist position
  • Perform bi-weekly payroll for management and hourly staff, including cost analysis and balancing
  • of pay funding
  • Perform system data maintenance and control, including calculation and update of system
  • earnings, tax, and deduction tables
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and audit control
  • Respond to inquiries, resolve pay issues, and answer employee and management questions
  • Provide support to Kronos users
  • Manage Kronos timekeeping database for new hires, badge changes, and terminations
  • Process garnishments and mail payments bi-weekly
  • Monthly reporting of union dues, completing and payment of dues and fees
  • Assist with year-end reporting, W2 statements

CORE COMPETENCIES / KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and payroll/tax regulations
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, payroll policies, procedures, and structure
  • Organizational/time management and prioritization skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Working knowledge of Oracle HRMS and Kronos systems
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Oracle EBS or Oracle Cloud experience is a plus
  • CPP Certification is a plus

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • High school diploma or GED preferred, but proven experience will not be excluded from
  • consideration
  • Minimum of 2 years related experience

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • MS Excel proficiency, including Pivot Tables and V-Lookups
  • Union experience
  • CA Labor Law experience
  • Experience processing payroll for an enterprise-level company
  • Powered by
  • Experience working in ADP, Kronos, SAP, Peoplesoft, or similar software
