ELL Instructor

Job Description – English Language (ELL) Instructor, Part-Time for IRISE Reformed Church of Highland Park Affordable Housing Corporation (RCHP-AHC)

Position Description

Interfaith RISE is seeking online English language teachers for short term employment to teach adult beginner and low intermediate students in the basics of English literacy and speaking online.  Applicants with previous experience in teaching ESL and or adult learners are preferred as are applicants with social work experience.  Comfort and familiarity with Zoom is also necessary.  Potential instructors will need to commit to teaching at least 2 classes and no more than 4.  Strong candidates are highly motivated, organized and have excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Teach 3 online, synchronous English language classes for clients via Zoom 2 - 3 times weekly for a total of 3 instructional hours weekly.
  
• Case note individual client interactions in a timely manner
• Attend monthly IRISE staff meetings and ELL volunteer training as requested by the ELL Director
• Attend biweekly staff meetings and staff development workshops as directed by the ELL director
• Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• A degree in English as a Second Language is preferred.
• Experience working with refugee and immigrant ELL populations.
• Ability to problem-solve and to work collaboratively, self-motivated with an eye to building partnerships with other community organizations, as we aid clients in integration and self-sufficiency.

Compensation

This position compensated for at a rate of $22/Hour.
