MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Director of Information Technology (IT) is responsible managing the network, application, hardware, and software-related infrastructure of the Montana State University Alumni Foundation (“Alumni Foundation”).  The Director provides crucial infrastructure assistance and support to staff, including extended IT and AV helpdesk.    


SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Manage and coordinate the evaluation, purchase, and renewal of IT resources, services, systems, software, and overall network infrastructure technology.
  2. Working with third-party vendors, assess and maintain IT systems to ensure data security and protect IT systems from risk or attack.
  3. Develop IT policies and procedures for the storage and use of constituent information with a primary focus on data integrity and security.
  4. Create systems, software, and business process operating procedures as needed.
  5. Oversee software licensing and equipment purchases by working with third-party suppliers and vendors.
  6. Maintain understanding of Alumni Foundation software and AV equipment in order to act as a front-line help desk and, where needed, as a liaison between vendor support and end-users.
  7. Determine end-user software training needs and work with vendors to arrange training as needed.
  8. Provide expertise and leadership necessary to maintain and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of IT-related programs and services.
  9. Provide annual reporting to the Board of Governors regarding cybersecurity risks and measures, as well as software and hardware updates.
  1. Affect and maintain a professional, proactive, positive, highly collaborative, and performance-centric work environment.
  1. Other duties, as assigned by the Vice President of Operations.

SPECIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Complete respect for confidentiality.
  2. In-depth knowledge of best IT security practices and latest IT products and developments.
  3. Problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  4. Ability to conceptualize and implement operational policies and procedures and command compliance.
  5. Ability to explain highly technical concepts in simple terms and to train others.
  6. Ability to research and analyze software and hardware systems.
