Busek Co. Inc. (www.busek.com) researches, develops and produces spacecraft subsystem technologies for space missions. Our talented staff have collective expertise spanning in-space propulsion, space-borne sensors, materials science, manufacturing, and high-fidelity electronic design for challenging space missions. Busek is well known in the spacecraft on-orbit propulsion community with numerous awards and achievements. Busek’s accomplishments include innovative electric propulsion systems for spacecraft such as first US Hall Effect Thruster in space. Our present efforts span research/development to manufacturing of aerospace systems to low-volume production of high-reliable in-space components and subsystems. The company has several R&D labs (over 30K sq.ft.) including over 20 vacuum chambers from 9 feet in diameter to small desktop systems. Busek was founded over three decades ago and incorporated in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in 1985. Day to day activities:
Process incoming flight hardware
Precision cleaning, bagging and tagging, first article and/or random sample inspection, space hardware assembly at the subcomponent level and top level
Manufacturing acceptance testing involving visual inspections, physical dimensional measurements, electrical checks, leak checking
Use and maintenance of production capital equipment such as heat-treating furnace, X-ray machine, induction brazing machine, electron beam welding machine, mineral insulated cable swaging machine, MIG/TIG welders, orbital welders, optical microscopes, 3D profilers, and CMM
Desired skills:
Knowledge about basic manufacturing tools such as torque wrenches, crimping tools, multimeter, pressure gage, and calipers
Familiar with CAD programs
Familiar with job routers
Ability to work with high electrical and potential energy machinery
