Recreation Planner Support

The Center for Workforce Inclusion is recruiting for a Recreation Planner Support in the Southwest Region 3 Coconino Nation Forest in Flagstaff, AZ within the NFS Agriculture Conservation Experienced Services (ACES) Program through a grant administered program which provides support to the U.S. Forest Service (NFS). Successful candidates must meet the age criteria of being 55 years of age or older and eligible to work in the United States. Selected candidates will also be required to undergo a federal security background check.
Role and Responsibilities: Support in planning future recreation projects and permit systems for the Red Rock Ranger District.
Duties include:
- Support on the development of recreation management plans. Makes field reconnaissance, and provides expertise and advice as requested on various types of recreation programs, which may include wilderness, wild and scenic rivers, National Recreation Areas, historic trails, construction and maintenance of recreation facilities, development of new sites, and operation and management of existing developed sites.
- Provides support and facilitates an interdisciplinary approach to the development of long-range action plans and short-range programs.
- Independently develops new or selects from existing analysis, practices and methodologies to address issues related to recreation and lands. Provides expertise and recommendations regarding forest priorities. Recommends adjustments based on the rate of progress in achieving goals and objectives, resource capabilities, changing economic conditions, emergency situations, production costs and other impacts that influence short-range planning.
- Provides expertise and advice in assessing current recreation use, types, and standards, and in long-range planning, maintenance, and operation of recreation facilities. Reviews new projects or proposed revisions of existing plans and coordinates action on approved projects. Provides data concerning overall accomplishments to Forest Leadership Team. In coordination with Forest Recreation Staff Officer, drafts forest-wide policy, technical guides, standards and methods regarding recreation management.
Qualifications and Education Requirements: Successful candidates must meet the age criteria of being 55 years of age or older and eligible to work in the United States; able to pass a Federal Background check; BA/BS; minimum of 20 yrs. relevant experience in related field; Specialized in Recreation Planning and Management. Experience using Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint. The position may require travel. General office work. Driving from the office to field locations. Visiting field site that may have uneven ground.
Hours & Compensation: Part-Time position working 29 hours per week @ $50.00 hours per week.
