POPULATION SERVED


The position does involve direct patient care for a population of patients ages 18 and older. Age specific experience and/or special training and/or expertise are required to serve this population.


POSITION SUMMARY


An Imaging Services technologist provides diagnostic imaging services to patients.


POSITION QUALIFICATIONS


Completion of a two-year accredited Radiology Technology program. Must be California Certified Radiologic Technologist with Fluoroscopy. At least one year experience in general radiography required. One year hospital setting required. Use of medical technologies, performing diagnostic procedures, informing others, quality focus, planning, technical understanding, people skills, dependability, creating a safe effective environment, radiologic technology, analyzing information.


JOB DUTIES


DIRECT PATIENT CARE

· Assists with the pre and post procedure assessment.

· Identifies & reports potential liabilities/risk management issues to supervisor in a timely manner.

· Verifies the procedure room’s readiness to receive a patient, to include appropriate supplies needed.

· The imaging equipment has been checked for proper functioning

· Assures correct patient using two identifier policy

· Works with team members to effect a timely patient transfer & maximize the room turnover efficiency

· Provides the technical support to assure quality patient care

· Remains focused on the task at hand. Monitors the patient’s physiological status & notifies radiologist of abnormalities at the time of the occurrence.

· Demonstrates comprehensive anatomy & physiology knowledge

· Acquires appropriate consent forms

· Demonstrates the skills necessary to operate equipment needed during a code blue

· Operates all appropriate radiographic equipment

· Obtains all appropriate patient history & information to assist the radiologist

· Reviews and consults with radiology/supervisor each completed case before releasing the patient

· Understands the difference between ionic and non-ionic contrast media

· Knows signs of and follows guidelines for treatment of contrast reactions, including appropriate documentation

INDIRECT PATIENT CARE

· Demonstrates the skills necessary to troubleshoot equipment

· Demonstrates knowledge of all types of CR plates and detectors regularly used & what they are specifically used for

· Accurately loads and unload digital cassettes in CR reader. Assures quality outcomes.

· Completes the picture archiving communication system (PACS) process

· Completes a radiology information system (RIS) process

· Demonstrates the proper way to shut down all equipment at the end of the day. COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS

· To work at establishing good rapport and working relationship with all staff.

· To complete the appropriate documentation.

· To communicate in English in patient care areas.

· To report any unusual occurrences, situation, or hazards to appropriate personnel.

· To report any malfunctioning of equipment.

· Able to work independently within scope of assigned tasks with minimal instructions.

· Consults with Director, Manager, Supervisors, and Radiologists. INFECTION CONTROL

· Knows universal precautions in the use of gowns, gloves, eye protection, masks, and sharps

· Knows universal precautions in the disposal of soiled linens and items.

· Knows proper cleaning techniques. Knows proper handwashing protocol. MANAGEMENT OF ENVIRONMENT OF CARE

· Knows the guidelines for waste management

· Knows and follows MSDS guidelines EQUIPMENT OPERATION AND PROCESS

· Crash Cart

· Oxygen Cylinder

· Basic Radiology Rooms

· Basic R/F Rooms

· Siemens Standard C-Arm

· Philips Standard C-Arm

· Fuji CR Readers and Detectors

· PACS

· Radiology Information System/Electronic Health Records
