Metal Finisher

Industrial Sales and Manufacturing is seeking a skilled and detail orientated metal finisher for second shift. As a metal finisher you will be responsible for cleaning, preparing, smoothing, and polishing metal component parts, and also painting and/or powder coating to ensure high quality finishes. This position requires expertise in coating techniques and the ability to meet production deadlines.

Responsibilities:

1. Perform finishing operations on metal parts using hand tools, power tools, and machinery such as grinders, sanders, and buffers.
2. Inspect metal surfaces to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
3. Remove imperfections such as burrs, weld marks, and rough edges from metal parts.
4. Follow work orders, blueprints, and instructions to achieve the desired finish.
5. Set up and operate paint and powder coatings evenly and efficiently to achieve the desired finish and coverage.
6. Monitor coating thickness and adjust equipment settings as needed to ensure quality standards are met.
7. Inspect coated parts for defects, such as runs, sags, and uneven coverage, and make corrections as necessary.
8. Maintain accurate records of coating materials used, production output, and quality control measurements.
9. Clean and maintain finishing equipment and work area to ensure a safe and organized workspace.
10. Collaborate with other team members to meet production deadlines and quality goals.
11. Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures at all times.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Experience in metal finishing, polishing, painting, powder coating or related field.
2. Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools for metal finishing operations.
3. Experience in using paint and powder coating equipment, including but not limited to spray guns, booths and curing ovens. 
4. Ability to interpret blueprints, work orders, and technical drawings.
5. Knowledge of different types of coatings, application techniques and curing processes.
6. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
7. Physical stamina and dexterity to perform repetitive tasks and work with heavy machinery.
8. Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
9. Knowledge of safety procedures and practices in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
10. Ability and willingness to wear Personal Protective Equipment including a respirator and protective eye wear and clothing as necessary.
11. Willingness to work second shift hours, including evenings and weekends if required.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience in metal painting, powder coating, or a related field preferred.
• Vocational training or certification in coating technology or a related field is a plus.

Work Schedule:

This is a second shift position, typically starting in the late afternoon or early evening and ending late at night. Flexible working arrangements, including compressed hours, shorter working weeks, full time, or part time will be considered.  Flexibility to work overtime and weekends may be required.
