Job Position: CT Technologist
Location: Morristown, NJ, 07960
Shift: 10 hrs./day, 40 hrs./week (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday) overnight shift: 9 pm-7 am
Hourly Pay: $62/hourly

Education:

  • High school diploma or general education diploma (GED).

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares Equipment and Supplies for Specific Procedures: The CT technologist will demonstrate professionalism and service excellence when performing tasks such as obtaining necessary medical, surgical, and radiological supplies for specific procedures according to established protocols. This includes maintaining the sterility of fields and instruments and correctly preparing requisitions.
  • Ensures Patients' Physical and Psychological Comfort: Communicates with the patient and family before, during, and after the procedure to alleviate anxiety while maintaining privacy and dignity. Adheres to all HIPPA regulations and respects patients' privacy. Verifies patient identification according to policy and observes patients' conditions before and after contrast injections, reporting any sudden changes to the nursing staff and Radiologist. Ensures the availability of medical records, previous reports, labs, and patient history. Can initiate an emergency response in case of complications.
  • Maintains Specific Inventory Records and Ensures Area is Stocked with Adequate Supplies: Keeps adequate linen supplies in each scanning room and maintains adequate contrast media and biopsy/drainage supplies. Adheres to room assignments and assists in maintaining CT storeroom inventory. Participates in daily inventory and stocking of supplies, notifying the lead of expired or soon-to-expire equipment or medications. Cleans and inventories supplies, participating in the routine cleaning of the CT gantry, table, and peripheral equipment after each use.
  • Coordinates Schedule of Daily Exams: Performs tasks such as triaging procedures according to the daily schedule, ensuring timely coordination of emergency and unscheduled procedure requests, assigning staff to ensure efficient workflow, and maintaining an environment of patient safety. Maintains workflow within the section to coordinate emergent and unscheduled procedure requests within the schedule. Communicates with all departments and floors regarding patient status and ensures immediate patient transport post-procedure.
  • Performs All Tasks as Required by Coordinator and Lead Staff: Assists in performing routine procedures, assesses patient ability to tolerate contrast, screens for allergies/medication incompatibilities, cleans CT unit and room after each use, and maintains orderliness and cleanliness of the working area. Notifies Coordinator or Lead of equipment malfunctions and maintains QA/QC requirements for daily, monthly, and ACR specifications. Recognizes unusual conditions in the operation of equipment and alerts appropriate personnel of malfunctions. Adheres to venipuncture and power injector protocols.
  • Additional Responsibilities: During cases requiring immediate results, such as Code Grey, Trauma, and Partial Trauma, images will be acquired, processed, sent, and verified/completed in PACS/RIS system per established protocol (immediately after acquisition for Code Grey). The CT technologist will notify the radiologist as Code Grey images are being sent and follow up with any processed data. All staff should notify the radiologist of any unusual findings to provide optimum patient care.

Qualifications:

  • CT registered; maintains current certification/licensure as required for the position.
  • CPR mandatory
