The Role

As a First Due DevOps Engineer, you will cover the following areas of responsibility:

  • Design and implement scalable, secure, and highly available systems on AWS.

Containerization

  • Work with development teams to ensure smooth integration and delivery of code.
  • Ensure best practices are followed for software development, testing, and deployment.

Monitoring and Logging

  • Maintain and implement alerting mechanisms to proactively address potential issues.

Collaboration and Support

  • Collaborate with software and infrastructure engineers to optimize application performance and scalability.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to development teams on best practices for DevOps.

Security and Compliance

  • Implement and enforce security best practices across our infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this job. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities required of this role.

Skills, Experience, and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar role.
  • Strong expertise in AWS services and architecture.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Ruby.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
  • Hands-on experience with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes or ECS/EKS.
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD concepts and tools (e.g., Github Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI).
  • Knowledge of PHP and PostgreSQL, including performance tuning and optimization.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.

RequirementsPreferred Qualifications:
  • AWS certification (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Certified Solutions Architect).
  • Experience with both monolithic and microservices architectures.
  • Knowledge of security best practices and tools (e.g., AWS IAM, security groups, encryption, Security+).
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

We welcome a diverse workforce If you don’t fit all the qualifications for the job listed above but feel you bring unique experience and perspective that would serve this role and First Due well, we encourage you to apply.
