In this role you can expect to supervise a team of microbiology technicians responsible for contamination control. You will also plan, organize and implement activities associated with contamination identification and control in raw materials, components, products, and the environment. The Microbiology Supervisor will ensure all aspects of the microbiology department are executed correctly and efficiently.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS

  1. Plan, organize, schedule, and direct the daily activities of all Microbiology Technicians/Specialists.
  2. Ensure all area activities are executed in a manner that meets regulatory and safety requirements, internal customer expectations and the expectations of the organization.
  3. Provide microbiology technical expertise to all areas of the organization related to product and environmental contamination identification, control, and reporting.
  4. Train all direct reports on proper execution of job duties, verify competency and ensure the appropriate skill levels are in place.
  5. Establish and maintain all departmental protocols.
  6. Conduct regular performance evaluations for all direct reports according to company policy and provide regular performance feedback, coaching and career development.
  7. Actively participate in recruiting and onboarding new employees.
  8. Drive projects to improve processes associated with the Quality Control department.
  9. Collaborate with Quality Control Manager on the implementation and execution of departmental goals and organization objectives to meet current and future business needs.
  10. Other duties as assigned by management.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors degree with a minimum of three years of industry or leadership experience.
  • Associate degree with a minimum of six years of industry or leadership experience.


REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

Effective Decision Making, Change Agility, Leads Teams, Strategic Awareness


TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

  • Expertise in microbiology and aseptic techniques.
  • Solid understanding of Quality System regulated environments such as ISO, FDA or similar.
  • Solid understanding of quality systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel and ability to develop expertise with other computer programs used to execute department tasks.
