Food Prep Cook

Job DescriptionJob DescriptionWe’re searching for a food prep cook who will work with our head cook/chef to prep a variety of foods, and stock food stations with ingredients and condiments. You’ll be responsible for keeping all food stations and equipment neat, clean and sanitized. You must read recipe directions in English and operate kitchen equipment, including sharp knives and measuring tools. Expect some lifting, bending, and standing on your feet during your shift, as well as the ability to take on other duties as needed. $12 - $16 hourly

Responsibilities:

• Wash, sort, prep, slice, and measure ingredients for recipes, using condiments, vegetables, and proteins, and mixing sauces for use in various meals
• Clean food stations and prep areas and sanitize equipment and kitchen utensils after closing to maintain proper hygiene
• Understand recipe instructions, measurements, meal charts, and labels written in English and use all measuring tools properly
• Observe all company-required food safety guidelines and protocols in the areas where food is prepared and kitchen equipment is utilized
• Perform other basic cooking duties as necessary, such as brewing coffee or tea, preparing soups, reducing sauces, and assisting other cooks in the kitchen if needed

Qualifications:

• Basic familiarity with operating kitchen equipment
• You should possess the basic knowledge of food preparation and perform these duties with minimal supervision from the head cook or chef
• We’d like you to have some kitchen experience and associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent, but it’s not necessary
• Read and comprehend recipes, labels, and meal charts written in English
• Flexibility to work weekend hours and holidays if necessary, as well as some extended hours
