Location: Rose Hill Adolescent Treatment Program - Massena, NY
Position: Full-time Cook/Clinical Aide
Schedule: Wednesday-Friday, 3:00pm-9:30pm and Saturday-Sunday, 8:00am-6:30pm
Pay Range: $15.50/hour to $22.00/hour
Position Summary: Performs food service and preparation activities in accordance with SJATRC's policies, procedures, and quality standards. The position will also include duties that support, monitor, and supervise the flow of patient activities when needed. The incumbent will work towards maintaining a "continual awareness" on the unit providing a safe and secure environment. Additionally, the incumbent of this position may be required to work extended hours in order to carry out desired clinical goals and objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities for Food Preparation:
- Conducts quality food preparation activities to achieve desired menu.
- Assures safety and cleanliness standards are maintained.
- Monitors inventory and reports discrepancies and utilization trends.
- Prepares appetizing and nutritional meals as directed.
- Responsible for overall cleanliness of the kitchen, coolers, storerooms, and dining room areas.
- Organize the coolers and the storerooms in preparation for incoming orders.
- Plan, prepare and pack meals for various day trips.
- Confers with on-duty cooks to see if assistance is needed in the preparation of meals or special events.
- Report any problem with residents to the Food Services Director or the appropriate clinical staff.
- Responsible for the set-up, breakdown, and preparation of dietary services at various training sessions.
- Communicates effectively with staff and residents.
- Performs additional duties as requested by Food Services Director.
- Responsible for and instructs the assigned residents as to the proper way of executing their assigned duties.
Essential Duties for Residential Care:
Some of the duties will involve but are not limited to the following:
- Maintain unit safety at all times.
- Monitor all activities during the specific shift they are working.
- Monitor patient's free time through healthy role modeling.
- Co-facilitate physical education groups, psycho-educational groups, and daily schedule.
- Transport patients to and from self-help meetings in the agency van.
- Complete necessary paperwork and documentation appropriate for this position.
- Complete task assigned to you by your supervisor.
Education and Training: Two-year degree, preferably in Human Services or Social Services; or High School diplomas or equivalency and 1 year of experience providing direct client services, or 6 months to 1 year of satisfactory experience in a residential setting.
