Job Summary
The Cost Accountant will be responsible for developing and maintaining cost accounting systems and procedures, analyzing project costs, and preparing regular reports to compare assumed costs to actual and standard costs. The ideal candidate will work closely with the operations and production teams to ensure accurate cost allocation and assist in identifying cost-saving opportunities. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical skills and a thorough understanding of cost accounting principles.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain cost accounting systems and procedures.
- Analyze project costs and prepare regular reports comparing assumed costs to actual and standard costs.
- Work closely with the operations/production team to ensure accurate cost allocation per month and assist in identifying cost saving opportunities. ·
- Monitor, analyze, and reconcile material valuation, including raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods, on monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
- Monitor, analyze and reconcile Fixed Assets on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
- Conduct variance analysis, identify cost drivers, and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare and present financial reports to management, highlighting cost trends and areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with the finance team to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and accounting standards.
- Participate in the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Assist in the development and implementation of cost control initiatives and process improvements.
- Assist with annual external audit
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance preferred
- 2-3 year experience as a Cost Accountant or relevant experience
- Experience with integrated ERP systems; QuickBooks and NetSuite experience preferred
- Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritize workload, multi-task and confidently perform in a fast-paced environment
- Strong time-management skills to include execution to meet established deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex information, draw logical conclusions, and make sound recommendations
- Ability to read and comprehend contractual language
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and analytical problem-solving capabilities
Reporting Structure: The Cost Accountant reports to the CFO and works closely with the Logistics, Operations, and Sales teams.
