Position Title:  Finance Specialist

Position Summary

As a full-time Finance Specialist, you will be reporting to the Finance & Accounting Director, this position is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations related to the functional areas of the NCDMM Administration (Finance, Procurement, Accounting, and Property).  The position will interface daily with internal and external customers.  This position requires an individual who has the flexibility and knowledge to work on a variety of different tasks in many different areas.  Individuals should be able to work under minimal supervision and provide updates to management of issue resolution. 


 

Essential Functions

  • Perform the day-to-day activities of the Accounts Payable function including managing incoming invoices, invoice review, invoice entry & posting, initiating payment reports, and assisting in managing any accounts payable issues.
  • Perform the day-to-day activities of the Procurement Card function including receiving and verifying credit card payment authorizations, reconciling to the credit card statement, preparing the monthly packet, entering and posting the transactions, and making monthly payments.
  • Perform the day-to-day activities of company and government property, and reporting processes, including property tracking, disposition, monthly reconciliation, and year end reporting.
  • Assist with the day-to-day activities of the Expense Reimbursement function including verifying, tracking, and expensing pre-paid travel expenses.
  • Assist with NCDMM monthly and annual closing processes including account reconciliations, project cost reviews, annual financial audit, and 1099 processing.
  • Continuing education in the functional areas to further individual effectiveness for the overall needs of the NCDMM.
  • Performs other related duties, as needed which contribute to the overall success of the NCDMM.

 

Required Education and Experience

  • Associate’s degree in accounting, finance or related field or a high school degree or equivalent in a related field with a minimum of 3 years of experience. 
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint and Teams preferred
  • Experience with Deltek’s Costpoint preferred
  • Detail oriented
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Good customer service skills
  • Strong organizational skills
