Costa Vida Fresh Mexican Grill has been redefining traditional Mexican food since 2003. Today, Costa Vida has restaurants in a growing number of the US States and Canada and is positioned to be one of the fastest-growing restaurant franchises in North America.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Assistant Controller will support the Sr. Director of Finance in managing the company's overall accounting operations. This includes the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of accounting records, and overseeing the implementation of accounting policies and procedures. The Assistant Controller will also ensure the accuracy of the company's reported financial results and that reported results comply with GAAP. This position will play a key role in financial planning and analysis, internal controls, and supporting the audit process.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the Controller in the management of accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
  • Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
  • Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Assist in the annual audit preparation and act as a liaison with external auditors.
  • Support the Sr. Director of Finance with special projects and workflow process improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 7-10 years of accounting experience.
  • CPA certification is required.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Experience with creating financial statements and general ledger functions.
  • Excellent accounting software user and administration skills.
  • Proven leadership abilities and strong interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and follow through in a timely manner.
  • Effective communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Experience in Food & Beverage is a plus.
