POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is primarily responsible for preparing and cooking a wide variety of food choices for residents, employees, and visitors while maintaining a high level of quality service. Responsible for cleanliness and proper usage of equipment, kitchen appliances, and work areas.


RATE OF PAY:

The starting rate of pay is $13.10 - $17.03, based upon previous experiences and qualifications.

WORK SCHEDULE:

  • 6:30am - 3:00pm, Monday-Friday and every other Saturday (a weekday will be provided off when scheduled to work Saturday)
  • 80 hours per pay period (every 2 weeks)
  • Eligible for benefits on date of hire
Requirements:

As a condition for employment, VMRC requires all employees to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. If selected for a pending job offer, the candidate will be required to receive the COVID-19 vaccination(s) or provide proof of prior COVID-19 vaccination(s) before the date of hire.

  • Looking for a high school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year experience cooking in an institutional food service environment is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of HACCP and OSHA protocols (additional training can be provided).
  • Standing for long periods of time with ability to lift/carry up to 35 pounds.
  • Detail-oriented and possess basic mathematical skills.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the basics of the English language.
  • Ability to act and intervene independently in routine and emergency situations.
  • Self-motivated, able to schedule time wisely, and accommodate changes.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with residents, families, and the general public in a positive, professional, and customer-first manner.
  • Must be able to work overtime, holidays, and weekends as scheduled.
  • Fluency in a second language is a plus
