Under general supervision, responsible for the preparation of various surfaces and the application of paints, enamels, stains, shellac, varnishes, or other finishes using brushes, sprayers, or rollers.  Must utilize proper painting and finishing application procedures to ensure quality of work.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Prepares various surfaces for the application of paints, enamels, stains, and/or other finishes using the appropriate tools.  Includes but not limited to effective loading and unloading of trucks, clean up work sites, moving paint, paint supplies and equipment around the work site, effective, sanding, caulking, puttying, power washing, cleaning and any other means necessary to prepare surfaces to receive paint, protection of adjacent surfaces from paint overspray, taping, masking, moving drop clothes, covering, as well as any other means to protect items not to be painted. Also includes but not limited to cutting and rolling walls, brushing door jambs, cutting accent lines, and related duties.

 

Must know, understand, and execute the required paint specifications such as oil base, water base, epoxies, etc.

 

Must consistently follow General Coatings safety requirements and policies and procedures including the Quality control program.

 

When working with sprayers, follows required safety procedures, cleaning, and maintenance. 

 

May provide guidance, assistance, and training to less experienced Painters and Apprentices, as needed.

 

Daily work assignments / hours may vary based on project requirements. Follows instructions and guidelines regarding work assignments.
