Mains’l has the privilege of offering person-centered support to individuals looking to gain job-based skills, independent living skills, and support with their college endeavors.
What do Program Specialists do?
The Program Specialist mentors students in collegiate, social, vocational, and independent living skills to adults who receive services through our College Plus program. You have the opportunity to guide students to greatness based on the path they have chosen to take.
We are looking to hire a full-time (5 days a week/ 35+ hours) program specialist. The schedule is between the hours of 8 am – 5 pm Monday through Friday, evenings as needed.

The primary duties of the job would include:
- Supporting students to navigate the Chico State and/ or Butte College campus and becoming familiar with different departments and services.
- Providing support for breaking down homework assignments into clear steps and helping students stay organized.
- Assisting students in finding appropriate tutors.
- Helping students learn how to live independently.
- Supporting students with utilizing community resources.
- Coaching individuals while they perform their duties in the community internship or place of employment.
- Acting as a liaison between community business partners and Mains’l.
- Ability to work with limited to no supervision.
- Capability to navigate college campuses and utilize student resources like financial aid, tutoring, academic counseling, etc.
- Capability to make decisions for the good of the students, program, and fellow team members.
- Skills to identify, understand, or learn various learning styles and apply this knowledge on an individual basis.
- Experience working with college students and job seekers who have disabilities.
- Ability to communicate clearly and speak/ act professionally in a variety of settings.
- Skills to help plan program events and activities and plan and present a workshop or activity.
- At least 18 years of age
- Ability to pass a background check through the Department of Justice (DOJ).
- Safe and reliable transportation with a valid driver’s license and auto insurance.
- Ability to pass a driving record check.
- TB (Tuberculosis) Skin Test
Benefits:
Mains’l offers full benefits to Full-time staff including paid time off, paid sick time, paid holidays, health, dental, life and vision insurance, 401k, paid funeral leave, parental leave, 2 weeks of paid jury leave, and education assistance (tuition reimbursement).
Pay Scale:
Starting rate: $17.00 per hour ($17.25 after 90 days and completion of new hire training).
Maximum Pay Rate: $18.75 per hour based on years of experience at Mains'l.
