Footwear Designer

We are looking for a Footwear Designer to combine their experience, problem-solving abilities, and creativity to help build the future of our footwear line.

Main Job Task/Responsibilities:

• Work with Product leadership to implement brand vision, design language, and product direction.
• Lead presentations with strong verbal and visual execution, while communicating design vision.
• Communicate complex technical topics to diverse audiences and at all levels within the organization.
• Apply market research, trend insight, and knowledge to interpret business to select materials and actively create and present new concepts.
• Research new materials, manufacturing technologies, and design methodologies.
• Create illustrations and technical drawings for new design concepts and digital renderings of materializations in applicable design programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) detailing concepts, materials, and development specifications based on WalkingCo brand design guidelines.
• Manage and drive multiple design projects from conceptualization to finished product, adhering to calendar deadlines.
• Work with Product Development to provide flat patterns to communicate pattern corrections
• Partner with Product Brand Manager(s) to incorporate new concepts into seasonal themes and design.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• BS Degree in the design field
• 5 years as a footwear designer for casual and/or athletic footwear required
• Mastery of the Adobe Suite, CAD, and a strong understanding of MS Office, MAC OS
• Excellent multi-tasking and organization skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with high attention to detail
• Must be a self-starter with strong initiative.
• A portfolio of work, with clear examples of commercialized designs
