Shive-Hattery is seeking a highly motivated Senior Architect in our recently opened Phoenix area office, located in Tempe near the Arizona State University campus. The ideal candidate should have experience in both public and private sector architectural design while having a firm understanding and comprehension of market trends in any of the following markets: Commercial, Higher Education, Government, or Industrial.


This talented, detail-oriented individual should possess an entrepreneurial spirit with the goal of expanding into the Phoenix market and growing the office. Candidates should demonstrate experience in all aspects of the design process including Programming, Master Planning, Conceptual, Schematic and Design Development presentations, 3D modeling, and the technical proficiency to successfully implement designs through the CD/CA phases.


Required Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in a design firm with proven leadership and team management skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture
  • Licensed Architect in the State of Arizona or ability to become licensed through reciprocity
  • Must have demonstrated Business Development capabilities and manage/support marketing efforts
  • Expertise in AutoCAD and Revit. Expertise in SpecLink Cloud, Newforma, SketchUp, Photoshop, and InDesign desirable
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be collaborative and have positive/effective team building skills
  • Must have a good understanding of business financial metrics used to monitor office performance
  • Must be able to manage workflow balance and personnel resources
  • Must have a strong can-do attitude with excellent problem-solving skills
Requirements:
  • Direct and lead project teams
  • Assist project team with design and technical questions during the project
  • Develop and encourage market trend analysis and thought leadership in the Commercial, Higher-Education, Government, or Industrial market
  • Pursue new clients and relationships in the Phoenix area and Southwestern United States
  • Support initiatives to elevate the design quality and profile of Shive-Hattery
  • Support Shive-Hattery’s One Firm Philosophy by building strong relationships in business development, and work sharing with all Shive-Hattery offices
  • Work with Group Leaders to balance workload, resources and project schedules
  • Strive to create an environment and culture consistent with our business and people values
  • Engage and be active in community and professional organizations

Responsibilities would additionally include leading design and construction phase activities and coordinating with clients, consultants, and contractors throughout the project. This candidate will ensure existing clients receive superior service while leading business development efforts and overall growth.
