Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDescriptionPosition Description:As a Detroit Academy of Arts and Sciences Food Service Worker,  you will be responsible for providing high-quality food service to our students. You will work closely with the Food Service Manager to ensure that all food safety standards are met and that our food service operations run smoothly.
Requirements:
  • Must possess physical ability to perform all required work 
  • Satisfactory Completion of Background Check
  • Prior experience working with children preferred
  •  Prior experience in a food service or kitchen environment is preferred but not required. On-the-job training will be provided.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work up to 5 hours per day
Terms of Employment: Part time, up to 25 hours per week

Key Responsibilities
  • Food Preparation: Assist in the preparation and serving of meals, including cooking, assembling, and portioning food items according to standardized recipes and menu plans.
  • Food Safety: Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure the cleanliness and safety of the kitchen and dining areas. Maintain proper hygiene and food handling practices.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to students, staff, and faculty. Address any questions or concerns about the menu or dietary needs in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Inventory Management: Help with inventory control by monitoring stock levels, assisting with ordering supplies, and managing food storage in compliance with safety regulations.
  • Cleaning and Maintenance: Keep kitchen and dining areas clean and organized. Perform routine cleaning tasks such as washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and disposing of waste.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other food service staff and contribute to a positive and efficient team environment
