Redan LLC is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to be part of a growing team in the federal sector.

As the Senior Software Engineer, you will support the Earth Observing System Data and Information System (EOSDIS) under the EED-3 contract. You will work in a fast-paced Agile development environment, focusing on the operations, design, and development of tools like the Common Metadata Repository (CMR) and Earthdata Search Client (EDSC). Your work will involve leading the deployment of product updates, identifying and resolving production issues, and constructing scalable architecture that enables scientists and students to access and improve the quality of earth science data.

Candidates must have excellent written and oral communication skills with client stakeholders at all organizational and technical levels and be adaptive to the organization's changing needs. The right candidate must be able to contribute to a high-performing, motivated workgroup by applying interpersonal and collaboration skills to achieve project goals and demonstrate excellent time management while working in an agile environment, providing technical knowledge and development to the team throughout all agile ceremonies.


What You'll Be Doing

As the Senior Software Engineer at Redan, you will:

  • Design, develop, and maintain software solutions for the CMR and EDSC.
  • Utilize cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, including networking and serverless services like Lambda and Step Functions.
  • Write and debug code in languages such as Python and JavaScript within an Agile development environment.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Implement front-end technologies and frameworks like React and Angular.
  • Lead the deployment of product updates and identify production issues.

Profile of Success

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • At least 6 years of software engineering experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, including serverless services like Lambda and Step Functions.
  • Strong programming/scripting skills in Python and JavaScript.
  • Experience with front-end technologies and frameworks like React and Angular.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to debug complex issues.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of geospatial data formats and standards like GeoJSON, KML, and Shapefile.
  • Familiarity with GIS software and tools such as QGIS and ArcGIS.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology.
  • Full life cycle software design and development experience on large/complex n-tier client/server applications.
