Position: MRI Tech CWR
Location: Hackensack, NJ

Job Summary:

Under the direction of a qualified physician, the MRI Tech CWR performs a variety of technical MRI procedures using magnetic pulses for the diagnosis of diseases in humans. The role requires a high degree of precision and adherence to established standards to ensure accurate and reliable imaging results.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Perform MRI Procedures: Conduct MRI procedures in compliance with department standards, ensuring a minimum accuracy rate of 99%. Continuously update knowledge of regulations pertinent to the ages of patients served.
  • Scheduling: Allocate appropriate time for each patient, review requisitions regularly, and schedule procedures effectively throughout the shift.
  • Contrast Media Preparation: Accurately prepare all opaque contrast media used in examinations.
  • Image Processing: Process images within 30 minutes after completing the examination.
  • Translate Physician Orders: Convert physician's orders for technical-surgical procedures into radiographic procedures with a high accuracy rate.
  • Record Maintenance: Maintain patient logs and equipment downtime records accurately.
  • Collaboration with Radiologists: Work closely with radiologists to develop imaging protocols that ensure optimal imaging studies.
  • Charge Technologist Duties: As a charge technologist, prepare and distribute reports on work activities to the supervisor.
  • Emergency Studies: Follow up on all “stat” and “emergency” studies as requested.
  • Work Area Maintenance: Keep a clean, safe, and orderly work area, adhering to prescribed safety and hygienic procedures to prevent injuries and contamination.
  • Productivity: Maintain productivity levels within 20% of the FTE monthly average for the modality, excluding low-volume night shifts.
  • Customer Service: Deliver excellent customer service to improve patient satisfaction scores for the department and Medical Center.
  • Inventory Monitoring: Monitor inventory levels and supplies, notifying the supervisor of replacement needs with high accuracy.
  • Patient Exams: Charge all patient exams as needed.
  • Patient Transport: Safely transport patients to and from the department and other designated areas as required.
  • Troubleshoot Equipment: Identify and troubleshoot machine malfunctions, reporting issues to senior technologists.
  • Charge Recording: Ensure all charges are accurately recorded.
  • Cleanliness: Maintain a tidy work area to prevent injuries.
  • Patient Assistance: Assist patients and families throughout their stay.
  • Coverage for Absentees: Assist with the duties of any absentee employees within the MRI area.
  • Cross-Training: Participate in cross-training in other areas as applicable.
  • Other Duties: Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.
  • Adherence to Standards: Comply with HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a licensed MRI Tech.
  • Strong ability to communicate professionally and effectively with patients.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Education:
  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent; Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.

Certifications & Licensure:
  • Required: NJ State MRI License; AART (MRI) certification.
  • Preferred: N/A
  • Additional Certification: ARMRIT Certification (American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists).
Language Requirements:
  • Proficiency in English (speaking, reading, and writing).
Minimum Degree Required:
  • Associate's Degree (Community College, MBO).
