JOB SUMMARY:

As a Clinician you are expected to assure that the mental health and behavioral needs of the individuals we serve are met. This is a full-time position, with flexible hours, Monday through Friday, with one late night. Clinician must present a team approach and an ability to work collaboratively. This position requires a clinician with heightened communication and organizational skills, as well as a capacity to effectively listen. Working with an Interdisciplinary Team, key responsibilities include:


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • The development and review of behavior plans using baseline as well as ongoing proactive/ reactive data.
  • The conducting of functional behavioral assessments, as well as the implementation and monitoring of fading protocols for restrictive interventions.
  • Ongoing data review and feedback on behavior plans.
  • The initiation of individual and group counseling as needed.
  • Interaction with the Human Rights Committee when considering the need for restrictive interventions and psychotropic medication.
  • The development and implementation of staff training on the use of behavior plans, including the modeling of proactive and reactive strategies, and discussion of daily; creative, practical and constructive interactions between the individual and staff.
  • Collaborate and support family members on the phone, or in meetings either in person or virtual, partnering and clarifying behavioral needs.
  • Provide input on individual assessments as needed.
  • Initiate the promotion of appropriate life skills and social skills through individual and staff demonstration and guidance.
  • Participation in inter-agency meetings as needed.
  • Participation in agency wide efforts to improve service quality, continuously furthering the agency's mission.
  • An ongoing understanding of governing regulations related to behavioral management, including the maintenance of certification in SCIP or PROMOTE.
  • A forthcoming positive, proactive, person-centered approach.



Essential Functions:

· Computer - A Clinician must be able to use a computer and learn new software programs as needed.

· Office Equipment- A Clinician must know how to operate a fax, copier, scanner, and other office equipment.

  • Driving - A Clinician must have a valid Driver's License and available car. In the absence of a car, a Clinician must be able to use public transportation for field visits.

· Communication - A Clinician needs to speak, read and write fluently in the English language

· Writing - A Clinician must be able to write in the English language using correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc.

o Lifting - A clinician may frequently lift 0-25 lbs. occasionally lift 26-30 lbs. and rarely lift over 40 lbs.

o Push/Pull - A clinician may frequently push/pull 0-25 lbs. of force, occasionally push/ pull 26-45 lbs. of force and rarely push/pull over 45 lbs. of force.

o Sitting - A clinician may sit 50-60% of the work day.

o Standing - A clinician may stand 10-20% of the work day.

o Walking - A clinician may walk 10-20% of the work day.

o Stooping - A clinician may occasionally stoop. Defined as bending body downward by bending spine at the waist.

o Kneeling - A clinician may occasionally kneel. Defined as bending legs at knees to come to rest on knee(s).

o Crouching - A Clinician may occasionally crouch. Defined as bending body downward and forward by bending spine and legs.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee most frequently works in an office, day program or residential environment. However, there may be times when the work environment will be community based.


The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate due to talk and movement of the individuals and other co- workers. The day hab and residential noise level can increase occasionally due to yelling or screaming.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education: Master's degree in a clinical and/or treatment field of psychology and documented training in assessment techniques and behavior support development. Minimum Experience: Prior experience working directly with individuals with disabilities. (Licensure or BCBA certification a plus.)
