Keswick Hall & Club is seeking a Director of Engineering/Facilities to provide guidance and leadership to the entire Engineering team and ensure the Hotel building is operating in optimal condition. This position is responsible for all aspects of the Engineering department to include the proper operation maintenance and repair of all HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, life safety, and mechanical equipment/systems. The Director of Engineering will develop, coordinate and monitor all guest rooms and public spaces, equipment, and PM programs to ensure the reliability, safety, and comfort of all staff and guests as well as supervise, train and manage all Engineering staff. This position will report to the Managing Director.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Coach, lead, and inspire engineering team by training and setting clear goals and objectives.
  2. Supervise maintenance operations for the facility to include but not limited to: refrigeration, heating, plumbing, HVAC, kitchen and laundry equipment, emergency systems, electrical systems, painting and finish work, dry wall, etc.
  3. Conducts inventory, purchasing and maintains department checkbook to ensure budgetary and forecast guidelines are met.
  4. Update and maintain engineering policies, procedures, work orders at Keswick Hall standards.
  5. Monitor vendors to ensure quality, delivery, warranties, exchanges, upgrades, etc. are consistently utilized.
  6. Maintain, oversee and track results of the preventive maintenance programs for guest rooms, meeting rooms, public areas, back of house areas and all equipment.
  7. Ensure a 24/7 coverage including on-call status and act as Manager on Duty when scheduled.
  8. Obtain competitive bids for all supplies and work orders and preventative maintenance programs on an annual basis or as needed and manages service contracts for building elements and MEP systems.
  9. Coordinates & oversees contractors performing maintenance and upgrade activities.
  10. As the Life Safety Director, uphold and oversee safety, health and sanitation policies and procedures at the property, including all safety measures and procedures related to COVID-19
  11. Completes projects as determined by the Managing Director
  12. Ensures compliance with relevant regulations, building codes, and health and safety standards.
  13. Manage the CMMS system for the facility.
  14. Evaluates operational systems and facility infrastructure to ascertain and improve operational efficiencies.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

The qualifications listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • At lease 3 years of experience as a facilities engineer or in a similar role.
  • Displays a professional sense of urgency when communicating and interacting with guests, co-workers and the public in a way that exceeds the guest’s needs. Identifies opportunities to improve and deliver additional value to the guest’s experience.
  • Possesses sharp ability for attention to detail (able to quickly identify variances in standards), working efficiently and flexibly. Ability to multi-task and be highly organized while working under pressure.
  • Strong budgetary, projections, and cost control skills.
  • Must have developed the following communication skills: ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and technical procedures. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, customers and clients.
  • Experience with commonly used computer software - spreadsheet, email, word processing is required. Drawing and modeling software experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of the building process and construction principles & of relevant regulations and building codes.
  • Familiarity with local laws and ordinances.
