Your Impact

A Utility/Stock/Diet Aide in Senior Living plays a crucial role in enhancing the dining experience. We are passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of seniors and promoting healthy food choices. Serving the meals in a responsible, efficient, and courteous manner gives our residents an enhancement of wellbeing and contributes to an environment, where our residents receive a fulfilling and nourishing meal, delivered with customer service that puts our Vision into Action by “Providing Real Food and Genuine Service while building Enduring Relationships. This position will also be responsible for dish room and supply room duties.

Wage range: $14.00 per hour to start with no experience and more based on related experience.

Your contributions are:

  • Assures resident meals are ready and properly served by: Preparing cold cart according to daily count
  • Distinguish and serve the different dietary requirements of the meal and beverage according to the resident meal tickets, assure accuracy and appropriateness of meal including food texture, fluid consistency of beverage, appearance, portion control, taste and temperature. Able to make appropriate substitutions according to meal satisfaction standards.
  • Prepare “always available menu” as needed and ensure compliance.
  • Maintain the proper serving utensils to assure portion control.
  • Remove soiled patient trays. Assure sanitation of meal carts and food service areas.
  • Maintain Pantry area: Perform first in, first out of stock items. Accurately cover, label and date all food items. Ensure all outdated items are discarded. Accurately document food temperatures. Ensure the pantry is appropriately stocked.
  • Maintain the sanitation procedures and protocols by handwashing and food handling techniques. Clean workstation and equipment after use. Follow all other aspects of proper sanitation using SDS.
  • Maintain courteous, considerate, cooperative, and accurate communication with facility personnel, patients, and families.
  • Dish room duties
  • Stockroom duties
  • Other duties as assigned, such as assisting kitchen staff or nursing staff to ensure meal service is timely, and residents have received the proper meal and meal type.

Physical and Sensory Requirements:

Requires mobility to stand and walk extensively during meal preparation and service. Lifting, carrying trays and boxes, up to 25lbs. Push/Pull Food Hot Boxes up to 50lbs. Bend, stoop for access to carts, food, trays, and other kitchen equipment. Manual dexterity for the use of kitchen utensils and tools. Visuals for reading menus, labels, and directions. Hearing to respond to verbal communications. Taste and Smell to assess food quality, freshness, and adherence to dietary requirements. Exposure to hot and cold temperatures.

Ensuring that diet aides meet these physical and sensory requirements is crucial to their ability to contribute effectively to the well-being of senior residents in a senior living community.

What you will need:

  • 16 years or older, pending specific state requirements
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Prior experience with one-on-one customer service interaction preferred.
  • Strong teamwork skills.
  • Successful background check and drug screen, state specific
  • Health screening and TB tests, state specific
  • ServSafe® Certification and State Food Handlers Card, state specific (we train)
  • The ability to work holiday and weekend shift schedules
  • Basic computer skills
