Position Overview:

As an Ortho Technician at OrthoArkansas, you'll play a vital role in supporting our physicians by providing top-notch casting services and ensuring patients receive the best care possible. Your responsibilities include applying and removing casts, splints, and dressings, as well as maintaining a well-stocked and clean casting environment. This role is essential in ensuring our clinic runs smoothly and efficiently, allowing our patients to receive prompt and effective treatment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Patient Care Support:

  • Assist clinic staff in coordinating patient care, including warmly greeting patients and escorting them to exam rooms.
  • Apply and remove casts, splints, dressings, and other orthopedic devices as directed by physicians.

2. Casting and DME Management:

  • Ensure all cast rooms are fully stocked with necessary materials and that each room is cleaned and organized after every patient.
  • Measure and apply durable medical equipment (DME) products, ensuring proper fit and comfort for patients.
  • Maintain appropriate levels of casting supplies and manage DME inventory to ensure availability when needed.

3. Compliance and Confidentiality:

  • Maintain strict patient confidentiality, adhering to all HIPAA regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with clinic policies and procedures, contributing to a safe and professional work environment.

4. Additional Duties:

  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned to support the clinic’s operations and enhance patient care.

Qualifications:

  • Education and Experience:
    • High school diploma or GED required, with specialized schooling or on-the-job training in a relevant skill area.
    • 2 years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Preferred Certifications and Licenses:
    • Certified Cast Technician.
    • Current license from the Licensing Board of Athletic Trainers in the state of Arkansas.
    • CPR/AED certification.
    • BOC (Board of Certification) certification.
  • Skills:
    • Basic proficiency in word processing and typing.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks with precision.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a focus on patient care and comfort.
