Body Technician - Schererville, IN

We are in search of an experienced, hardworking and quality-minded body technician who is self-motivated with a great attitude.  This position will perform collision repairs safely and thoroughly following procedures, industry standards and Insurance partner’s guidelines.   Must have a valid driver’s license and keep a clean driving record. 


Responsibilities:

• Examines damaged vehicle and efficiently plans repair process.
• Works and communicates with others on vehicle repair status.
• Performs quality repairs while keeping on-time status in mind.
• Makes decisions on repair vs. replace considering safety, cost and cycle time.
• Removes upholstery, accessories, electrical and hydraulic window operating equipment, and trim to gain access to vehicle and fenders.
• Participates in all required safety meetings.
• Files, grinds, and sands repaired surfaces, using power tools and hand tools.
• Directs the work of an apprentice in the performance of tasks when needed, i.e., unusual problems or questions and explains procedures to assistant.


Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of collision repair experience
  • Ability to properly complete light to heavy repairs, including structural work  
  • Above average quality focus and attention to detail 
  • High production capabilities 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills 
  • Must be able to multi-task in a fast paced setting 
  • Must be able to read and understand instructions, estimates and repair orders and effectively communicate with the team 
  • Willingness to support and train body tech apprentices 
  • I-CAR or ASE Certifications are a bonus
