SUMMARY
The Annual Fund Officer (AFO) has oversight responsibility for the annual giving campaigns, special fundraising events, donor cultivation, stewarding gifts, assisting the integration of the annual fund into overall fundraising, including developing and implementing strategies for electronic cultivation and solicitations, phone-a-then, direct mail and matching gifts. AFO will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, long range and short-term planning for the annual fund, recruiting volunteers, and cultivating key constituency groups (i.e. alumni, Faculty/staff, parents, students, UNCF, United Church of Christ, and United Methodist Church).
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITTIES AND DUTIES include the following.
• Plans, develops and implements a strategic plan of action for the Annual Fund program that includes goals, objectives, strategies, outcomes, timelines and evaluation pertaining to the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of constituents.
• Creates and administers programs and activities to solicit gifts from alumni, parents and friends including personal solicitations, telemarketing, and mail programs for the Annual Fund.
• Coordinates with the Alumni Relations Director regarding the implementation of the class reunion solicitation effort, the solicitation of class reunion leadership gifts and targeted solicitation for alumni volunteers and class members.
• Manages the development and implementation of direct mail appeals, and the recruiting and training of student phone-a-then callers when necessary.
• Ensures targeted communications with members of gift club societies for the Annual Fund.
• Manages UNCF Joint Campaign
• Works closely with the Vice President for Institutional Advancement and the Assistant Vice President of Development and Alumni Relations, and other staff to ensure coordination with their respective fundraising efforts.
• Communicates with Director of Major Gifts appropriately as a part of the moves management process.
• Responsible for working and evaluating Annual Fund program and modifying as appropriate to ensure attainment of annual reporting of program's progress to the University.
• Oversees the acknowledgment and recognition of all annual fund gifts, including the annual report to donors.
• Manages a portfolio of 75-175 leadership donors to secure annual fund gifts through qualification, cultivation and face-to-face solicitation.
• Promotes community awareness and support for the annual fund program.
• Secures a minimum of six personal visits per month.
• Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
BS/BA, master’s preferred. Three (3) years direct or related experience. Excellent computer skills and budget/accounting skills. A commitment to Dillard 's mission; honesty, trustworthiness, dependability.
