Summary

The role of the Architect is to create, develop, & oversee the Architectural work for Payne & Tompkins. The Architect is a client facing position that creates inspirational and exciting designs to help a client create a space that is functional and beautiful, yet effectively accomplishes the clients project priorities.  They create complete construction documents to ensure projects follow legal specifications and company procedures. They collaborate with engineers to ensure projects are developed according to local codes. The Architect partners with sales, design, and production teams to ensure client needs are met and conceptual designs come to fruition. They oversee the drafting team, monitors work, and ensure compliance. The Architect will represent Payne & Tompkins at required ARB meetings.

 

Responsibilities

  • Client Engagement: Create inspirational renderings to help clients reimagine their space.
  • Aid Sales as needed in presenting the developed plan and scope to the client.
  • Resolve complex design issues with innovative and practical solutions
  • Document Oversight: Oversee production of highly accurate, detailed plans, construction documents, design drawings, schematics, and specifications. Incorporate MEP planning into the design language when necessary.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Interior Design to fully develop innovative, high-quality, functional design plans and scope that highlight architecture in line with client needs.
  • Effectively manages their design schedule consistent with the overall project schedule
  • Will work with the client to the convergence of design and budget

 

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Certified Architect
  • Proven ability to effectively manage client interactions and presentations
  • Knowledgeable of traditional forms of architecture and the importance of contextual design
  • 5+ years of residential experience
  • Strong teamwork mindset and ability to work with interior designers
  • Ability to sketch by hand or to produce artistic renderings
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent projects
  • Skilled in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, open to working in Chief Architect
