The Direct Support Professional is responsible for assisting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities inside a day-hab setting. Essential Job

Functions/Responsibilities:


1) Provide direct care and support to individuals with disabilities, ensuring their safety, well-being, and comfort.


2) Foster a positive and inclusive environment by promoting socialization, community integration, and participation in recreational activities.


3) Attend training sessions, workshops, and team meetings to enhance knowledge and skills in providing quality care.



Qualifications:

Prior experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.

High level of interpersonal skills.

Certified in CPR.

Excellent customer service skills and ability to deal tactfully with clients, other team members and community.

Treat clients, team members and the public with courtesy, respect and presents a positive public image.

Empathy for the needs of the client.

Works as a team member.

Self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision.

Licensed driver with automobile that is insured in accordance with the organization's requirements.


Environment, Personal Protective Equipment or Physical Demands

Environment: This position will be inside a facility that provides day-hab as well as vocational services

Personal Protective Equipment:

May include gloves, mask, eye/face protection, and disposable outer covering or lab coat.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to stand walk, squat, bend, kneel, reach, twist, push and pull. Varied assistance is required depending on the ability of the client. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Visual and hearing acuity required.

Travel Requirements:

Limited travel as needed for various staff and client care service needs.

Work Environment:

Client's Environment: bodily fluids, household and human germs; extreme cold or hot temperatures in or outside; light to heavy traffic; inclement weather; human body weights that vary based on client health and lifting as prescribed or needed per plan of care; 50+ lbs.
