About The TeamSmartThings is seeking a Product Manager to join the Ecosystem team, which is responsible for bringing a diverse collection of third party device and service partnerships to market with Samsung. The Product Manager will help define and drive initiatives aimed at evolving major areas of our third party developer offerings. You will own key areas of our product, requirements and functionality, defining and prioritizing features to add to the platform addressing developer known (and unknown) needs. This is an incredible opportunity to shape the next phase of SmartThings.

About The RoleAs a Product Manager, you’ll work closely with cross-functional teams as you manage the product development lifecycle.This is an important and strategic role within the company that requires product thinking combined with technical depth to deliver the maximum tactical and strategic impact of our engineering capabilities, as the roadmap you define and bring to fruition will be fundamental to providing a third party developer experience for one of the biggest brands in the world. Key areas that you will own includes defining and prioritizing functionality to add to existing tools, SDKs, & CLI development tools, and scoping our next generation of integrated developer tools. 
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and refine a product strategy and roadmap for third-party developer tools, including APIs, SDKs, and command line and web-based tools needed to integrate with SmartThings.
  • Conduct in-depth market research to understand emerging trends, collect customer feedback, and perform competitive analysis to continuously refine and evolve the roadmap.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with third-party developers to understand their pain points and preferences.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to assess technical feasibility and prioritize development efforts based on potential impact and strategic value.
  • Collaborate across departments, including engineering, business development, marketing, and executive stakeholders, to ensure consensus on product vision and priorities.
  • Establish and monitor key success metrics and performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of developer tools, conducting data-driven experiments and analysis for continuous improvement.
  • Clearly communicate product plans, benefits, and results to internal and external stakeholders through formal presentations and reports.
  • Ensure organizational alignment and transparency by regularly sharing updates on product development progress and milestones.

What You Bring On Day One (Required Qualifications) 
  • 3+ years in product management experience - B2B tooling experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting product direction with an emphasis on day to day execution
  • Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product
  • Experience working with stakeholders and cross-functional teams 
  • Experience collaborating on product strategy, maintaining roadmaps, articulating requirements and managing product tradeoffs
  • Experience operating independently while proactively identifying roadblocks and engaging leaders for assistance
  • Strong intuition for product interaction and user experience
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical/quantitative skills
  • Strong sense of ownership, bias for action, urgency and drive
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Able to concisely communicate with and influence stakeholders, engineers, partner teams, and executives
Desired Skils
  • Strong interests in the Internet of Things, home automation, and smart homes industry
  • Experience with API-first solutions as an engineer or product manager
  • Development experience with embedded systems and/or web-based applications
  • International business and organizational experience

Compensation for this role for a candidate based in Minneapolis is expected to be between $122,806 and $184,209
