Position Summary: The Radiologic Technologist position is a full-time, non-exempt (hourly) position at the Center for the Functional Restoration of the Spine. The Center for the Functional Restoration of the Spine (CFRS) is an Ortho-Spine specialty practice with clinical sites in Shrewsbury, Toms River, and Edison, New Jersey. There are several key differentiators that allow this practice to stand out amongst the rest – most notably their complicated revision case load and use of robotics in the operating room which substantially improves their patients’ surgical outcomes compared to the traditional surgical approach still being implemented by all other spine specialists in their market. Their proven approach has yielded significant reductions in patients’ length of stay which is not only beneficial to the patient but also our carriers in total reimbursements to the hospital. In addition, we offer onsite x-ray, epidural injections, facet injections, SI joint injections, trigger point injections, RFA – radio frequency ablation, and fracture care.

The Radiologic Technologist plays a vital role in our practice. They are responsible for performing all radiographic examinations while adhering to radiology protocols. In addition, the Radiologic Technologist assists the physicians with in-office procedures utilizing the C-Arm/Fluoroscopy. Educate patients on radiologic procedures and safety protocols. Assist patients preparing and positioning for radiologic procedures. Operate radiologic imaging equipment safely. Maintain all radiologic equipment and perform regular quality control procedures and maintenance. Record all patient information in radiology information systems. Support all healthcare personnel as needed.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Evaluate radiologic images for quality and accuracy
  • Provide patients with radiation protection equipment and ensure they comply with safety and hygiene standards
  • Ensure adequate supplies of testing equipment and all medical supplies
  • Perform radiographic room disinfection and ensure general cleanliness of exam areas
  • Ensure that imaging equipment is in optimum operating order, notify Practice Director when it needs repairs
  • Label images in the radiology information system (PACS) according to organizational SOPs
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and OSHA regulations
  • Other duties as assigned

Experience/Skills Required:

  • Certification as a radiologic technologist from an accredited institution, High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of one year experience in radiologic technologist or related experience
  • Current New Jersey state license for Radiologic Technologist
  • Minimum one year experience specialization in C-Arm and Fluoroscopy required, previous Orthopedic or Orthopedic Spine experience preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • In-depth knowledge of radiology protocols and imaging equipment
  • Ability to work with the public and provide a high standard of patient care
  • Familiarity with radiology software/PACS
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT codes.
  • Knowledge of medical practice management software (for example: Athena, Cerner, ECW, Epic) and electronic health records.
  • Working knowledge of fax machines, copiers, scanners.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with sensitivity and accuracy.
  • Requires prolonged standing, sitting, bending, reaching, and lifting (up to 125 lbs.)
  • Fluency in Spanish, preferred.
