The Resident Care Associate reports directly to the Family Experience Director.

SHIFT: We have TWO positions open.

1. Full Time-Double Weekends; Saturday and Sunday 7A-11P

2. Full Time: Hours and Shift Vary

PURPOSE

Resident Care Associate / RCA

The Lead Resident Care Associate is responsible for providing the highest degree of quality care and services to a consistent group of residents and their families in our assisted living and Memory care neighborhoods including leading the assigned tasks of Resident Care Associate /“Primary Resident Care Associate”. This role includes providing hands on care, physical and emotional support as outlined in each resident’s Personalized Service Plan (PSP) while maintaining a safe, comfortable home like environment. The Lead Resident Care Associate is responsible for demonstrating all elements of wellness, remaining in accordance with federal, state and local standards and regulations and Phoenix policies to promote the highest degree of quality care and services to our residents.


PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Resident Care Associate / RCA

Participates in the development of the Personalized Service Plans and updates; attends service plan review meetings with families as requested

  • Assist is managing the incontinence program
  • Ensures the hydration schedule established for the residents is maintained during the shift
  • Knows and complies with all resident rights
  • Initiates, assigns, and assist with activities, as appropriate
  • Check all residents daily for cleanliness, appropriate clothing, any continence issues and change in condition
  • Uses proper sanitary procedures and universal precautions
  • Checks on resident rooms daily for general cleanliness and neatness and takes appropriate action; ensures high risk rooms arte double checked
  • Checks laundry rooms, common areas – including bathrooms – for cleanliness and any exposed hazardous chemicals; and takes appropriate action (i.e. contacting housekeeping, personally cleaning the room, securing the chemicals)
  • Ensures that ADLs for residents have been satisfactory completed which require multiple residents on different RCA assignments to be checked before the end of shift and followup to occur according to Phoenix policy
  • Ensures that charting is completed as scheduled and checks for other noted events (i.e. admissions, returns from hospital)
  • Responds to security system and resident call bells promptly & immediately; takes appropriate action including resetting call bells

Structure

  • Encourages active participation and teamwork with the changing shifts and Leads shift crossover meetings
  • Initiates daily RCA assignments
  • Provides assignments to RCAs
  • Monitors attendance and assigns break times and assures proper staffing during break times
  • Reviews communication log regularly throughout shift
  • Assist Wellness Nurse with obtaining vitals, if necessary
  • Trains and orient new hires
  • Provides input for talent reviews, coaching and improved performance of Resident Care Associates

Specific Responsibilities for LRCAs assigned to Memory Care

  • Invite and assist residents to activities and in life skills and other life enriching activities as indicated on the PSP
  • Incorporate the concept of “Creating Pleasant Days” and “Joining the Journey” into the resident’s daily routine
  • Integrates the individual resident’s life skills into their daily routine
  • Blends a elements of wellness into the resident’s day


Requirements:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE- CERTIFICATION

Resident Care Associate / RCA

  • High School education preferred and may be required by the state
  • Previous experience working with elders or disabled individuals, preferred
  • Must be at least 18 years of age to perform the personal care aspects of the RCA position
  • Knowledge and experience in Assisted Living industry and Dementia care or Skilled Nursing, preferred
  • Ability to work weekends, evenings and flexible hours, available to our customers at peak service delivery days and times

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Previous experience working with seniors and desire to serve and care for seniors
  • Demonstrate leadership competencies, good judgment and decision making skills
  • Ability to delegate assignments to the appropriate individuals based on their roles, skills and interest
  • Ability to make choices, decisions and act in the resident’s best interest
  • Ability to react and remain clam in difficult situations
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Familiar with infection control
  • Demonstrate proficiency at reading and understanding a Personalized Service Plan (PSP)
  • Proficient in using MS Office
  • Understands and able to implement Personalized Service Plans
  • Understands advanced directives and end-of-life care
  • Understands and embraces the assisted living philosophy
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of state regulations as they pertain to the job
  • Has sound working knowledge of policy and procedures
  • Understands Phoenix core objective to incorporate all six elements of wellness into all resident care and services provided
  • Reviews and understands the orientation checklist
  • Possess written and verbal skills for effective communication and a level of understanding
