Ranger Die is seeking a leader focused on driving company growth through cost efficiencies and continuous improvement to join the team as Purchasing Manager.

The ideal candidate has a demonstrated track record of building and maintaining good relationships with suppliers and teammates. Experience with buying or selling coil stock is essential and knowledge of the die building industry is a plus.

The Purchasing Manager functions as a department of one, responsible for the full purchasing cycle of all good and services. Candidates must be comfortable working within Outlook, Excel, and an ERP (preferably Global Shop Solutions). Must also be comfortable with compiling data to report out KPIs to relevant parties. This role serves as an active member of the management team, working cooperatively and proactively to support sales and operations.

SUMMARY:

The primary function of Purchasing Manager is to develop and execute a purchasing strategy to ensure all products, services and materials are purchased at the lowest feasible cost to Ranger Die, while improving inventory turns and having sufficient high-quality materials and supplies on hand for tooling and production when needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Negotiate pricing to control cost of materials and supplies as a percent of revenue.
  • Maintain mutually beneficial relationships with current vendors; seek and qualify new vendors to improve network of suppliers, reduce costs and improve or maintain quality.
  • Maintain accurate vendor and purchasing files (electronic & paper).
  • Ensure tooling and production have necessary raw materials, tools, and supplies to meet daily production needs.
  • Coordinate efforts with production and vendors to resolve raw material quality issues.
  • Monitor and control inventory turns.
  • Create purchase orders for each purchase; enter prices at creation when possible.
  • Monitor and control open purchase orders; troubleshoot differences between quoted prices and invoiced prices from vendors.
  • Monitor special orders with suppliers; expedite orders as required to meet the needs of production and customers.
  • Manage all returns to vendors, ensuring that company procedures are followed, speedy return authorizations are received, and all credits are received.
  • Respond timely to inquiries from internal customers.
  • Process Bills of Materials and Routers in coordination with Engineering.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education - Bachelor's degree in a business-related area or commensurate experience

Experience - minimum 5 years' experience buying or selling coil stock

License(s)/Registration(s)/Certification(s) - none

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities - ethical conduct; communication proficiency; technical capacity; collaboration; time management; business acumen; decision-making; proficiency in Microsoft 365, especially Outlook and Excel; proficiency with Global Shop or equivalent ERP software
